Natalis Group presents FORECLOSURE  a transformative story re-imagined within the classic footage of ‘The Last Man On Earth’ by Ubaldo Ragona’ (1964).  Maki levitates from it a new cinematic drama, stunning soundtrack and desperate voices confronting the unstoppable.

Witness two forces of destiny collide in a deadly ruse of provenance and revenge. One foresees the eminent extermination coming for us all. The other conceives his new mankind without end. A tragedy with no time to spare but to save themselves. Who is telling the truth. Who will survive, if anyone.

‘Foreclosure’ introduces a unique screenplay, emotion, voice and soundtrack to the venerated science fiction cinema from which it sprang. The ‘Last Man’ footage perfectly delivers a black and white world of desperation. It has the twilight-zone surrealism where the normal is not real anymore.

The storytelling is of a world in crisis, corporations oversee humanity’s extinction, civilization is black-pilled into a suicidal existence with no hope for a future. Lurking within the soundtrack are those recordings of the strange sounds booming from the sky over the past years. No one has a clue to their origin or meaning. For us they are tangible apocalyptic cries of a planet in turmoil.

Our story starts where such recurring dreams begin, in and about a familiar place, following a path where lost thoughts decipher a wider puzzle.

The answer found at the movie’s end is the question.

FORECLOSURE REVIEWS

Experimental Film – 2023 – IMDB Foreclosure’ is an interesting film that has a one-of-a-kind premise. It’s a film that draws its influence back to the black-and-white movie ‘The Last Man on Earth’ (d. Ubaldo Ragona, 1964), a post-apocalyptic arthouse masterpiece. What the director Maki tries to do with the footage of this film can be considered a re-structure of the original narrative. The way the footage is integrated seamlessly into the new film’s narrative adds an extra layer of depth and meaning. The monochromatic palette gives the short film a timeless and classic feel, evoking a sense of nostalgia and history. ‘Foreclosure’ adds a new perspective and commentary on the original film.  Overall it was an interesting watch.     ( S. Aruxandei / Long Story Shorts International Film Festival )

Best Drama Expeimental – 2023 – IMDB Based on an old film, we can enjoy a dramatic and experimental sci/fi story. Black and white emphasizes the sensations for the viewer. Very solid and well structured script. Scenes that surpise the public. Interesting edition that highlights the key moments of the film. Great cinematographic work of investigation. Cool!  (Fantastic Film Festival)
